14 April 2016

The Ministries and Federal government bodies will remain closed on 5th May, Thursday, to mark ‘Isra Wal Miraj’ day.

Employees of the government department and ministries will resume work on 8th May, as per the circular issued on Thursday by the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources.

Another UAE News Agency said that ‘Isra and Mi’raj’ Day falls on Wednesday, the 4th May, but the holiday would be moved to Thursday.

As per Federal law, the public holidays may be moved to the beginning or end of the week, if they fall between two working days.

The Ministry congratulated President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice president and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Members of Supreme Council, their Highness Rulers of the Emirates on this occasion.

The Authority also congratulated the UAE government, its nationals, residents and other Arab and Islamic nations.

Most of the UAE national holidays and festivals are based on sighting of the moon, rather than having fixed dates in the Hijri Calendar. Due to this, the actual dates may vary from those listed. This year, several holidays may fall prior to the weekend, which will translate into at least four longer weekends for UAE residents.
