UAE Passport now ranked as the most powerful in the world

The UAE passport has jumped to Number 1 position as the world’s most powerful passport on 1st December 2018, the eve of country’s 47th National Day celebrations.

This historic achievement allows UAE passport holders to now gain a visa-free entry to 167 countries across the world, says the Passport Index.
Ranked as No.27 in December 2016, the UAE Passport rapidly touched the No.4 position this October. Thereafter, it further went to third position on 8th November, as Emirati nationals were allowed to fly to 163 countries without the need of a prior visa during departure. Singapore and Germany stood at the first and second positions, with their nationals being able to travel visa-free to 165 countries.

Another 4 countries were added to the list on 1st December 2018. It took just three weeks after 8th November, for UAE to land on topmost position, thereby skipping the 2nd position among the world’s most powerful travel documents.

This is an historic achievement for UAE nationals as it coincides with the ‘Year of Zayed’, and the country’s 47th National Day, and is an addition to country’s numerous other accomplishments in various domains.

The Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, HH Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum tweeted that on the glorious day of UAE National Day, the achievements of UAE has been doubled. The Passport Index has ranked the UAE passport as Number 1 globally, with visa-free entry allowed to 167 countries across the world. 

He congratulated the people of UAE and thanked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation’s teams led by Shaikh Abdullah bin Zayed.
