Bollywood Parks Dubai, the state-of-the-art Bollywood theme park, is the latest addition to Dubais tourism portfolio. The park, which spans 1.7 million square feet in area, forms part of the Dh.10.5bn Dubai Parks and Resorts mega project. This first-of-its-kind theme park in Dubai, expected to open doors in October this year, will provide a true Bollywood experience.
The Bollywood theme park will have Bollywood theme attractions and rides, spread across five zones namely – Bollywood Boulevard, Mumbai Chowk, Rustic Ravine, Royal Plaza and Bollywood Film Studios featuring Hall of Heroes. The park will also house an 850-seat Rajmahal Theatre, which will include a separate Broadway style Bollywood theme musical.
There will be 30 live shows across six stages including Mumbai Express, Rock on, Rangmanch, Crossroads, Stars on Steps and Cinema Circle. The visitors to the park can experience a vibrant celebration of Mumbais famous film industry, apart from enjoying live performances and other attractions, including the themed restaurants and cinematic rides.
The 16 rides of the park are based on blockbuster movies like Don by Shah Rukh Khan, Mughal-e-Azam, Sholay, Lagaan by Aamir Khan, among others. There will also be Broadway-style live shows with fine dining at Rajmahal theatre.
Bollywood Theme Park Attractions
Royal Plaza zone: The Royal Plaza includes Mughal-e-Azam, the fine-dining restaurant, stars on steps, a Bollywood song and dance show, and the Rajmahal Theatre.
The Mughal-e-Azam dining restaurant takes you to the era of Mughal Kings, with its impressive interiors and a cuisine that is dedicated to the splendour of ancient kings.
The Stars on Steps is an all-out Bollywood song and dance show with all stops pulled out. In this show, dancers will perform popular and classic Bollywood dances, set to hit Bollywood songs through all ages.
The iconic Rajmahal Theatre is the heart of Bollywood Parks Dubai, with several shows relayed per week. This world-class venue will also play host to the regions first Broadway-style Bollywood musical.
Bollywood Boulevard zone: Bollywood Boulevard zone comprises The Rock-on restaurant, Crossroads stage performances, Cinema Circle and the Cinemagic.
Rock-on is a stylish restaurant that offers the opportunity to enjoy the dynamic live band Magik and their captivating music, as they belt out popular Hindi and English songs, while you enjoy the mouth-watering appetizers being served to you, and a cool pint to refresh you.
The Crossroads stage will host a medley of song and dance performances that will take you down the memory lane to the glorious 60s, 70s and 80s of Bollywood, an era in Indian cinema that created the first superstars of the silver screen.
The Cinema Circle will see the dancers perform rain dances under pouring rain to bring alive the significance of rain sequences in songs and dances. In this medley, the audience can relieve Madhuris iconic dances from the start of her career that spanned over 30 years.
The Cine Magic will offer a glimpse behind-the-scenes of a Bollywood movie production and live stage show, based on the blockbuster Bollywood movie Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara", with the family-friendly show showcasing the magic of filmmaking and post-production.
Mumbai Chowk zone: This zone includes "Don: the Chase", the 3D media tunnel ride, and "Mumbai Express", the chugging train.
At "Don: the Chase", join the dangerous world of Interpol agents and chase the slippery mafia boss Don, through the city of Dubai. This is a thrilling 3D media tunnel ride, which takes you on an epic chase, as you rush past iconic skyscrapers and try to catch the elusive Don.
The "Mumbai Express" chugging train is an ever-present image in Bollywood films, and in this show performers atop our train rooftop stage will dance to a range of popular romantic songs that have been played in the Indian trains in the Bollywood movies.
Rustic Ravine zone: The zone features "Lagaan: The Thrill of Victory" a game of cricket, "Lagaan Champaner Cricket Carnival" a rural celebration, "Sholay: The hunt for Gabbar Singh" the 3D interactive dark ride, and "Dabbang" the spectacular stunt show.
"Lagaan: The Thrill of victory" involves a game of cricket taken from the super-hit movie Lagaan. You get the feel of being amidst an idyllic village, surrounded by rocky terrain and farms, and can be a part in the game, with a motion simulator-based ride.
At "Lagaan Champaner Cricket Carnival", join the rural celebration, enjoying the sights and sounds of an Indian village, as you enjoy rides on a ferris wheel and carousel and other Lagaan games. There will be vendors of tasty snacks all round, and many accessories for women being sold.
"Sholay: The hunt for Gabbar Singh" which form part of the Rustic Ravine Zone will include 3D interactive dark ride, which arms you with laser guns to shoot dacoits, who are led by the terrifying villain Gabbar Singh from the popular movie Sholay.
"Dabbang" involves unbelievable action, with the best one-liners taken from Bollywood songs and dance sequences. Join the Police Officer Chulbul Pandey as he rescues his damsel and her friends in an explosive spectacle.
Bollywood Film Studio Zone: The zone features "RA.One: Unleashed" thrilling 4D multi-sensory ride, "Krish: Heroes flight" the 4D flying theatre ride, and "Rangmanch" an open air venue with village style song and dance performances.
The "RA.One" is a 4D multi-sensory virtual ride to witness the battle for supremacy and see who will emerge victor, based on the movie "RA.One".
At "Krrish: Heros flight" soar through the skies across the multihued landscape of India with your superhero Krrish and your 4D flying theatre ride offers you panoramic views of Indias spectacular landmarks.
Enjoy the Banjara (gypsy) style dances and Nauntanki (folk style) performers performing a medley of upbeat dance performances at Rangmanch", which also promotes the performance arts of rural and remote villages with shows that feature regional inspired Indian dance forms from Rajasthan and Gujarat.
Shopping & Dining
Shopping: Apart from enjoying the various attractions that Bollywood Park Dubai offers its visitors, the park also has various retail stores to satisfy the shopaholics. Some stores worth mentioning are the Bollywood Studio Store, Heros Vault, Bollywood Haat (for memorabilia), snapshot photo pickup, Shahensha, and Mumbai Bazaar to name a few.
Dining: Visitors will never be out of options due to the line-up of various restaurants and cafes at Bollywood Park, some of them being Juhu Juice Bus, the Jumbo Café, Mughal-e-Azam Shahi dining, Rock-on, Spicy Dhaba, Studio canteen, and Victoria Station.
Annual visitors pass
Bollywood Parks Dubai is offering the Annual Pass for adults and children aged 3 years or older for Dh.755 per individual. With the pass, you can visit the park all through the year, and enjoy a year of adventure, action, comedy, music, romance, flavour and emotion at the worlds first Bollywood inspired theme park.
Those with visitors pass also get to enjoy other privileges like invitation to special pre-opening park previews, all-year-round entry into the park without any blackout dates, 10% discount on dining and retail in the park, 10% discount on general admission tickets to all Dubai Parks and Resort theme parks and ticketed shows subject to certain terms and conditions, special seasonal sale offers only for pass members etc.
Once operational, this theme park, together with all other attractions within the Dubai Parks and Resort, would be a game changer for the whole region. As Dubai is well connected to majority of other regions across the globe, this project will help draw more visitors into the UAE.
The whole development spread across 25 million sq. ft. of land, located along Sheikh Zayed Road, will host 6.7million visitors by 2017.
The theme parks General Manager, Thomas Jellum, has confirmed that the project is progressing well, to hit the scheduled date of opening. He said that the park is not being created just for Bollywood lovers, and rather, it is a theme park to educate the public, and also positions Bollywood on a global level.
