Dubai has just received a fresh shipment of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine against Covid-19.

According to the DHA (Dubai Health Authority), the vaccines have been distributed across all centres where the vaccine is being offered for free of cost.

DHA began its vaccination drive against the coronavirus with the Pfizer vaccine on 23rd December. But, owing to global shortage of the vaccine, the authority rescheduled the first dose of its vaccine a month later.

According to Dr. Farida Al Khaja, CEO, DHA-Clinical Support Services and Nursing Sector, also the Chairperson of Covid-19 Vaccination Steering Committee said that the vaccine is prioritized for the elderly, people with chronic diseases, people of determination and the frontline workers at this stage.

Only those holding a residency visa will be able to receive the jab in Dubai.

The residents who are eligible for the above-said criteria can contact DHA at 800342 to schedule appointments, the authority emphasized.

She further said that appointments for frontliners and vital sector workers shall be scheduled together with government departments and institutions in which they work.

Currently, apart from the Pfizer vaccine, Dubai Health Authority is also administering Oxford-AstraZeneca and Sinopharm vaccines against Covid-19.
