With countries across the world having begun to check the advance of a new strain, Dubai and Abu Dhabi have begun administering booster shots of the covid vaccine.
In Dubai, the Pfizer-BioNtech vaccine will be available for all those who are over 18years of age, and should be taken six months after the second dose revealed the health authority of the emirate.
Abu Dhabi has also requested its residents to take the booster shots, amidst concern across the world regarding the new ‘Omicron’ Covid19 variant that may usher fresh lockdowns and hinder travel.
Various countries have already suspended flights to parts of Southern Africa, where the new strain was detected.
The UAE is among the nations with fastest vaccination campaigns in the world. Last week the UAE confirmed that 100 percent of its eligible population have already received their first dose and, more than 90 percent have already completed both the doses.
