Dubai Transit-Visa validity period revised

The General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs (GDRFA) Dubai has revised the validity period for 96-hour transit visa.

The visa validity for such visas is now 14 days from date of issuance, while for GCC residents the visa validity is 30 days from date of issuance, said an Amer Contact Centre staff. Early, the time allotted for both the categories was 60 days.

Effective 28th March 2016, the validity dates have been changed, the call centre staff said.

But, transit passengers can avail of a 96-hour visa at UAE airports irrespective of the airlines they are flying in. The passengers arriving at airports through international airline can apply for such visa in case they meet certain conditions like duration between two trips should not be less than 8 hours. The two trips should be different destination (from Dubai to another destination, and not back to same place where he/she came from). Hotel booking is mandatory.

The 96-hour transit visa is a four-day stay with the first day of arrival being considered as day 1, with three more days left to stay. The exit has to be prior to midnight on the fourth day.

The GDRFA last week introduced the UAE Vision new system, which permits public to apply for all kinds of visa and residency related transactions through typing service centres approved by residency department.

The Director-General of General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs (GDRFA), Maj. Gen. Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, mentioned that public will not be required to visit the GDRFA headquarters or any of its external branches to apply for a visa or residency-related transactions like applying for visa, renewing residency, applying for new residency, cancellations etc., as all these services will not be available at the typing centres.

The applicants will have to provide accurate information to the typing centre like valid phone numbers, address, e-mail in order to allow communication with them, as those who apply for visit visa related transactions will have it sent to their email and those applying for residency visa service can send it to them through Zajel service.
