Gitex Technology Week 2016 to drive in smart city innovation in Middle East

The Gitex Technology Week 2016 will be held from 16th October to 20th October under the theme ‘Reimagining Realities’, and aims to highlight the manner in which technology transforms businesses through cutting-edge showcases, international keynotes and participation of dignitaries from across the globe.

Gitex Technology Week, the largest technology exchange and marketplace for MEA (Middle East & Africa) in Dubai will also reflect how the supply chain is growing.

According to Vice President of Meta at Avaya, Mohammed Areff, Gitex serves as a gateway to the fast-growing Middle East Africa and South Asian markets and serves as a global platform to share knowledge and innovation involving students and start-ups.

Last year’s event by the company involved participation of more than 146,000 visitors from 144 countries, with 4200 sponsors and exhibitors from 130 countries. The Middle East IT spend is expected to touch Dh.781bn this year, marking 37 percent increase in comparison to previous year, and about 22,000 CXOs from top corporations are likely to participate in the event.

GITEX is all set to change the manner in which visitors view the world with its interactive Immersive Tech Section. The Virtual Reality gaming industry alone will grow to $4.4billion by 2022 and this technology will be GCC’s next billion dollar industry. Ranging from VR headsets to AR tools used in live surgery, Gitex will demonstrate how a new view of reality can change lives and businesses.

The new ‘Gitex Startup Movement’ will be the most global event of its kind, linking more than 400 start-ups from 35 nations, venture capitalists, 1000 entrepreneurs, government buyers, angel investors and mentors.

‘Gitex Vertical Days’ will serve as a platform for IT pioneers to address industry issues and learn from international thought-leaders. A world-class line-up of speakers from across the globe will address Vertical Day Conference attendees to share their expertise.

The ‘3D printing technology’ to be showcased at Gitex will give an idea of how a range of printers and makers create everything from medical supplies and automobile parts, to shape the vision of 3D printing technology.

In the era of ‘Internet of Things’, Robotics and Automated solutions would be essential for businesses to overcome the pressing challenges in the world.
