UAE suspends flights from 8 countries to contain spread of Covid-19

In view of containing the spread of Covid-19 virus, particularly its variants, the UAE suspended flights from certain countries.

Emirates, Dubai’s flagship carrier, has been posting several updates with regard to this, informing passengers about the revised dates and directives, in line with the government directives.

Recently, the airline noted that the situation is ‘dynamic’ and any change in travel protocols and guidelines will be immediately updated.

Here’s the list of all countries from where the airline has announced suspension of flights at present:

  1. Bangladesh

The airline recently announced suspension of flights from Bangladesh to Dubai until 15th July. Passengers who have been transiting through Bangladesh in the past 14 days will not be able to travel from any other destination point into the UAE.

  1. India

Emirates had announced suspension of passenger flights from India on 2nd July, and said that it would remain suspended until 15th July. However, UAE nationals, and Golden visa holders and members of diplomatic missions who abide by the revised Covid-19 rules are allowed to travel.

  1. Nigeria

As per the government directives, passenger flights to and from Nigeria will remain suspended until 15th July. Customers who have been through this destination over the past 14 days are not allowed to board flight to the UAE from any other point, the airline announced.

  1. Pakistan

Flights between Dubai and Pakistan are to remain suspended until 15th July, the airline said. Travellers who transiting through Pakistan in the past two weeks cannot enter the UAE from any other destination point.

  1. Saudi Arabia

Flights to and from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the UAE have been suspended from 4th July until further notice. The announcement was made in-line with directives from the General Authority of Civil Aviation in Saudi Arabia. Customers having KSA as their final destination will not be allowed to travel at their point of origin starting 5th July.

  1. South Africa

Flights between the UAE and South Africa will remain suspended until 15th July 2021, in line with government directives restricting entry of travellers from the destination to the UAE, Emirates announced last month.

Meanwhile, daily passenger flights to Johannesburg will operate as EK763, but, outbound passenger services on EK764 will remain suspended, it clarified. Further, travellers who have transited through South Africa in the past 14 days will not be permitted entry into Dubai, the airline’s website update said.

  1. Sri Lanka

Emirates said that flights from Sri Lanka will remain suspended until 15th July. But, travel restrictions to Sri Lanka from other GCC states have been removed since 1st July.

  1. Vietnam

Emirates said that flight suspension from Vietnam to Dubai which was announced on 4th June, will continue until further notice. This is as per the announcement by the GCAA and the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority.
