IBN Batuta Mall Dubai
Ibn Battuta Mall in DubaI is among the largest themed shopping malls in the world. Located between Interchanges 5 and 6 (close to Interchange 6 for Jebel Ali Village) adjacent to Sheikh Zayed Road, it offers an exciting mix of more than 275 retailers, 21 cinema screens and more than 50 restaurants and food outlets, including the only IMAX theatre in UAE.
The Ibn Battuta Mall is named after the 14th Century explorer Ibn Battuta, who spent 29years travelling through Middle East and Asia. The mall is divided into six designated courts with each based on the areas he travelled namely – China, India, Egypt, Persia, Tunisia and Andalusia. Each court is decorated to resemble the areas of the world, and that makes an interesting walk around with beautifully decorated sculptures, ceilings, boats and mini displays.
The China Court, the home to the Entertainment Zone, houses the region’s first IMAX theatre and 21 cinema screens. There are a host of restaurants to choose from for causal dining, including the Finz for Mediterranean cuisine and Pizza Express for Italian. The China Court also includes Sharaf DG, the largest electronics store within the mall, which has every possible device and gadget in store.
The India Court displays the latest in fashion, and is the right place for those in search of classy boutiques, luxury brands and other sophisticated stores, including the Evisu, Bauhaus and Ginger and Lace.
Persia Court is considered the jewel in the Ibn Battuta Mall crown, and houses the dome, the hand-painted masterpiece. There are several distinguished stores in these streets including the Paris Gallery, Debenhams, Forever 21 and H&M.
It offers lots from pyramids and fairy tales, to hierographics and temples and kings and queens, bringing about the wonder and romance of its ancient history. Worth mentioning here are the books galore, the Magrudy’s. As for playtime, there is the Toy Store. Other well-known stores here are the Mothercare, for children’s toys and clothes, and Sun and Sands for outdoor pursuits. You could consider buying a gift with a tailor-made piece of silver jewelry, engraved with Arabic Calligraphy.
This is a place where kids can have some fun time at the Fun City, while you get to shop at the Geant. There are 16 international food outlets too at the Tunisia Court, revealing sensational aromas.
With its grand and convenient design, the Andalusian Court takes care of all your needs, including a quick hair cut, a bouquet of flowers, and a magnificent Lion Fountain, inspired by Fountain of Lions, Alhambra.
Being a Nakheel project, the mall spreads across an area of 5.4million square feet and combines entertainment, retail, restaurants and family activities within a uniquely themed environment designed to reflect the combination of several heritages and cosmopolitan lifestyle, the essence of Dubai.
As for the stores, instead of the Carrefour Hypermarket present in majority of the malls, Ibn Battuta Mall houses the Geant Hypermarket, the large French supermarket chain store.
Ibn Battuta Mall also has the Children Play Zone, an authentic Chinese garden, and a state-of-the-art gymnasium, all being offered within a unique multi-cultural atmosphere. The zones are divided into four sections – Family & Convenience, Up-Market Brands & Lifestyles, Major Department Stores, and Entertainment and Leisure.
The mall offers a shuttle service to transport visitors from one end of the mall to the other. Apart from several international brands, the mall offers new brands to the region including the Evisu, and Betsey Johnson. Few of the anchor tenants within the mall are Paris Gallery, Magrudys, Debenhams, Sharaf DG, Geant and H&M.
The mall also takes care of valet parking, with the service available at both ends of the mall. This service is available from 1pm to midnight, Sunday to Wednesday, and from 12pm to midnight from Thursday to Saturday.
Sufficient car parking facility is available so as to accommodate more than 5000 cars.
