UAE marks the beginning of holy month of Ramadan today

The UAE announced that Friday, the 24th April, as the first day of holy month of Ramadan following the sighting of the crescent on Thursday evening.

Therefore, Ramadan will begin on 24th April (Friday) in the UAE.

Earlier, a tweet from the Astronomy Centre said that the moon was photographed on Thursday at 12.02pm from Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah.

Observed by approximately 1.8billion Muslims across the world, this is the first time that the holy month is being observed in the midst of a pandemic.

Residents across the UAE have geared up to observe the Holy month, observing prayers for the quick recovery of those infected with Covid-19 and for the departed souls, who lost their lives to the deadly disease.

President of the UAE, Sheikh Khalifa wished the leaders and residents good health and well-being and wished more progress and prosperity for all Arab and Islamic nations.
