Several nations across the world have created a visa program to attract remote workers during pandemic, and Dubai is the latest inline to announce such a program.
As per reports, a new “one-year virtual working programme” is in place to allow remote workers and their families to live in the city for up to one year and work for companies based overseas.
However, to apply for this new visa, workers should submit proof of income that shows minimum of $5000 as monthly salary. For this, they can produce their last month’s pay stub, and three months’ worth of bank statements, says the tourism board website.

A fee of $287 is collected per applicant, and they are also required to have a medical insurance that is valid in the UAE, and a passport with at least six months of duration prior to date of expiry at the time of applying.
Approved remote workers can open a local bank account, obtain a local phone number and internet access, and even enrol their kids in school.
The workers will not have to pay income tax in Dubai. In fact, the website clearly says that “it will not levy income tax on individuals”.
This new remote working option is best-suited for travellers. However, further information on this program is still awaited.
