Living in Dubai

Nightlife in Dubai

Dubai has a great nightlife scenario, as life actually begins in the evenings here, given, its hot climate during the day. People come out to the streets after 9pm and normally hang out until midnight.

Therefore, Dubai nightlife has varied choice of bars, and nightclubs to be enjoyed. The bars that serve alcohol are mostly in hotels, with just a few exceptions.

Dubai also has certain regulations regarding nightclubs, such as, all nightclubs will have to close by 3am, and only 21 years and above is considered legal age for drinking. The bars that are allowed to serve alcohol are mostly in hotels, with just a few exceptions. There are large fines levied in case music continues beyond 3am.

However, if you happen to visit Dubai during Ramadan period, check out if they are open, as majority of the bars will be closed during this month, and the ones that are open will be very subdued, with no live music or dancing allowed. However, except during this period, the rest of the year, the nightclubs in Dubai have a lively atmosphere, and even certain world-class DJs have been spotted appearing on a regular basis in the recent years.

The main party districts are places with large concentration of hotels, like the Jumeirah and Al Barsha districts in New Dubai, and the Deira and Bur Dubai districts in the old city part. The party places here are mostly located on the Oud Metha, Al Rigga and Karama districts, largely inhabited by Indians.

Even the nightclubs in Dubai have certain hotels offering German and English pubs, and Russian discos too, are not rare. The Aviation Club, located along the Dubai Creek is a great place for beer, while other places such as hi-tech discos of Atlantis the Palm, the Triology at Madinat Jumeirah Complex, all have hi-tech discos. Meanwhile, the Dubai Marina complex offers forty different bars and lounges, including the popular Budha Bar, the place for all kinds of parties. Apart from a great restaurant, you can also find great lounges here for International, Latin American and dance floor music.

There are plenty of nightclubs, bars, restaurants and cafes in Bur Dubai. There are several Indian places such as the Bollywood Bar, which offers great atmosphere. The Chill Rooftop Club is great to spend an evening in Dubai. However, if you want to enjoy an evening with a taste of Arabic atmosphere, you need to visit Deira. There is the Al Mushref Bar, with belly dancers, the Arabic Nightclub, and the Iranian Nightclub all at the Al Zumorrof. Deira is also filled with Indian, Bengali, and Filipino places. The Kasbah Nightclub is a Moroccan-themed nightclub located in the Royal Mirage Hotel in Dubai, and is one of the biggest nightclubs in Dubai.

In Dubai, as the weekend falls on Thursday and Friday, Thursday nights are the biggest. However, Saturdays are also quite popular as weekends, as there are large numbers of people who work Monday to Friday.

Like in most countries, women and couples will have an easier time getting into a nightclub, than men. Officially, there is no racism in Dubai nightclubs. Men wearing local dresses are usually denied entry, as it is apparently against law to wear local dresses in bars and nightclubs in Dubai, and the same is applicable to women too. During the Ramadan period, Muslims are denied entry into nightclubs and bars in Dubai.
