Now, visas for arrival and renewal, handled by robots at Dubai Airport

23 October 2015

The visitors to UAE will soon meet with a robot handling their visa requirements at Dubai Airport.

Although, this is not applicable to all visas, this machine which will handle their paperwork, may be mostly encountered by transit visitors and visitors who enjoy the visa-on-arrival provision.

An official of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs (GDRFA), demonstrating the current Gitex Technology Week, said you just need to tab transit visa, enter details, pay, and an email and sms confirming your transactions may be sent to you.

This sms or email should then be demonstrated at the counter, and a borer official will stamp the visa in the passport.

A total of 13 robots will be deployed in Dubai International Airport terminal 1 and 3, Al Maktoum Airport and immigration office in Dubai.

The robot also handles visa renewal request. Residents need to just swipe their emirate IDs and follow instructions. The payment can be made with credit or debit card and cash.

The transit visa represents the largest share of visas handled at Dubai Airports and GDRFA is eager to explore the various channels to facilitate visa provision and renewal, the authority said.
