Ferrari World theme park moving towards timely completion
Largest theme park in the world and the largest indoor theme park in the world, The Ferrari World is on track for completion next year, revealed its operator.
The theme park, which forms a part of the US$40bn Yas Island development, will includes the world’s fastest roller coaster, and will play a vital role in increasing the number of visitors to the emirate.
The theme park is on schedule and will open in 2010, confirmed Nadine Traboulsi, the Marketing Director of Ferrari World, Abu Dhabi. The building work on external structure is 90 percent complete, and Depa has been awarded a Dh.200mn contract to fit out the theme park.
On completion, the operator will require three months for staff training and other preparations prior to opening doors to public, Taboulsi said.
Ferrari World will include about 20 amusement rides, including two roller coasters on race with each other, racing car simulators based on those used by Formula One drivers, six cafes and restaurants, and shops selling Ferrari merchandise.
They will offer additional attractions for international visitors, who come and stay in Abu Dhabi, and will help in substantially encouraging stopover visits by several passengers, currently transiting Abu Dhabi International Airport. Ferrari World is one of the several projects on Yas Island, which is likely to host the Formula One Grand Prix from 30th October. Among the other developments on the island are, the Warner Brothers theme park, a 700-shop mall, a Links golf course, all of which are connected to Ferrari World. Seven hotels will open in time for the Formula One race.
Ferrari World has the capacity to house 10,000 visitors a day. The operators of the park are now discussing the options for pricing structure for tickets.
