Residence visas to be linked to Emirates Identity Cards from 1st April
The Emirates Identity Authority (EIDA) has announced that beginning 1st April 2012, Dubai will link residence visas to Emirates Identity Cards.
The ID card link to visas will be mandatory in Dubai from April 2012, and the procedure will be implemented in co-ordination with General Department of Residency and Naturalisation, EIDA said.
EIDA also emphasized that ID card registration will be mandatory for issuing and renewing residence visas in Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Umm Al Quwain, Ajman, Furjairah and Ras Al Khaimah.
The authority also said that it will open six more registration centres at the preventive medicine centres this month in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah, and Ajman.
The UAE will have a total of 26 registration centres by the year-end, including the new additions. The new centres will be distributed across Ras Al Khaimah and Ajman, while in Dubai the new centres will come up across Jafza, Satwa and Al Quoz. In Abu Dhabi, the new centre will be located at Al Jazira.
EIDA said that the Al Quoz Dubai can register nearly 700 people a day, while the one in Satwa can register 1000 people a day, and the Jafza centre can handle about 250 people.
