The UAE continues to be one of the most preferred international destinations for Indian tourists, with more than a million thronging the country every year.
Now, the UAE cabinet has announced that Indian passport holders with a valid American visa or Green Card are eligible for a visa-on-arrival to the country. The tourist visa would be valid for a period of 14 days, with sufficient scope for a single extension at an additional fee.
To qualify for the visa-on-arrival scheme, Indian national are required to possess a visa or Green Card issued by the USA, valid for a minimum of six months.
The decision is a strategy meant to boost economic, trade and political relationships between India and UAE. It also aims to project UAE as the global tourist destination.
The conditional inclusion of Indian tourists in the visa-on-arrival category depends on the huge influx of Indian visitors to the country. Last year alone, a whopping 1.6mn Indians visited the UAE. The move is appreciated by Indian residents and non-residents alike, as it makes way for hassle-free travel.
