Healthcare City to house world’s largest wellness village

Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC), a health and wellness destination, has today unveiled plans for the world’s largest wellness concept in its Phase 2 expansion in Al Jadaf, Dubai.

Located strategically on the waterfront, the World-Care Wellness Village will span an area equivalent to the size of 16 football fields. It is estimated to be considerably larger both in its size and its offerings to current wellness properties in the US and Europe.

Aimed to cater to the growing demand of people seeking evidence-based and holistic care, the wellness concept is driven by the US-based WorldCare International and developed by the MAG Group in Dubai. World-Care is known for its online medical consultation service which digitally links millions of members over the world with over 20,000 specialists at the world-class medical centers.

The Wellness Village concept contributes to the vision of Dubai Healthcare City to grow into an internationally recognized location of choice for quality healthcare and wellness services.

The phase 2 expansion by DHCC over land area of 22million sq ft, the free zone will drive the global trend of preventative healthcare taking into account the local and regional healthcare demands and demographic changes.

According to Dr. Raja Al Gurg, the Vice Chairperson and Executive Director of Dubai Healthcare City Authority, it is necessary to increase access to preventative care, as it is necessary to improve wellbeing and lower healthcare expenditure in the long term.

Anchored by a 100,000sqft wellness centre, the WorldCare Wellness Village will primarily focus on prevention and management of diseases like hypertension, obesity, diabetes and other physical conditions. The centre will also offer diagnosis and treatment plans with two to six week medical programmes that focus on patient education and lifestyle change. About 100 or more healthcare and allied professionals will work at the centre.

The Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of WorldCare International, Nasser Menhall, mentioned that through the launch of Wellness Village, Dubai will have diversified wellness capability that will aggregate leading technologies and best practices in wellness programs in an unprecedented manner.

The Wellness Village is conceptualized to include customized living space like residential villas and apartments, and rental units to support long-term stay for both local and foreign nationals. The eco-friendly living spaces are designed to serve the wellness and rehabilitation needs through features like therapy zero-gravity pools, personalized spas and strict exercises and diet facilities.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Investment Sector, Bader Saeed Hareb mentioned that the new wellness partner WorldCare brings with it international systems and healthcare expertise that strengthen what is already offered within the free zone. Unique concepts like WorldCare are a step in the right direction to ensure long-term sustainability and to develop a health and wellness destination that improves quality of life and sense of community.

With increasing number of projects, there is likely to be considerable impact on overall health of communities, which increases opportunities to develop unique wellness concepts, Hareb said.
