Emirates is the first airline to implement the International Air Transport Association’s ‘IATA Travel Pass’ across six continents. The digital health pass is now available to passengers travelling from 50 cities.
The roll-out across all 120-plus Emirate destinations is likely to be complete by October, the airline said.
\After successful trials in the month of April, on select routes from its Dubai hub, Emirates gradually expanded the IATA Travel Pass pilot to customers on 12 routes.
The airline has now entered into a contract with IATA to implement the solution across its global network.
Travellers are required to download the app, register themselves by creating their digital identity using their passport. They can then access more than 1500 Covid19 test labs through the pass app.
EU and UK nationals can register their vaccine certificate on the app.
Here are some key features of the app:
- It allows passengers to manage travel documentation digitally – from receiving test results and vaccination certificates directly from concerned centres, it also helps to share these documents with authorities in a secure manner.
- It enables passengers to get apt information pertaining to travel, testing, vaccine requirements for their journey etc.
- It helps passengers access certified Covid-19 testing centres at their departure location that meet necessary requirements of their destination of travel.
- Future enhancements include enabling customers to share their digital documents for travel prior to their arrival at the airport, which include covid vaccination certificates and test results. These will be automatically reflected in Emirates’ check-in systems to facilitate smooth and hassle-free airport experience.
