For everyone’s safety at public parks, #Dubai Municipality announced that it is not allowed to use electric scooters in public parks to avoid accidents.” This post was shared on Twitter.

To ensure your own safety and for the safety of everyone, please follow Dubai Municipality’s instructions, it said.

Dubai has been working on a year-long trial of e-scooters in five designated areas in the city, so as to establish their safe use in the emirate.

These two wheelers are available for rental through mobile applications, and cost Dh.3 to unlock and 50 fils for every minute thereafter. However, riders should be of minimum 14 years of age or older.

Located in popular commuter hotspots, the rental stations are mostly found in Downtown Dubai’s Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard, 2nd of December Street, Dubai Internet City, Al Rigga and Jumeirah Lake Towers.

People who own e-scooters can use them freely, but only in the same five designated zones. Use of e-scooters anywhere else is illegal, and anyone found doing so may be stopped by police, the authorities said.
