People overstaying their UAE visas now have time until year-end to leave the country without fines, as per latest announcement by the authorities.
The short-term amnesty was first introduced on 14th May, and was said to end on 17th November.
According to the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA), illegal residents whose visas expired prior to 1st March, can have their fines waived if they leave the UAE before December. All penalties and restrictions associated with work permits and IDs will also be lifted, announced Maj. Gen. Saeed Rakan Al Rashidi, ICA’s Director General for Foreign Affairs and Ports.
Maj. Gen. Al Rashidi said the extension is aimed at offering visa violators another opportunity to legalize their status.
