The UAE has now approved vaccines for front-line workers. According to Abdul Rahman Al Owais, the Minister of Health and Prevention, the Phase III clinical trials findings indicate that the vaccine is effective and has a shown a strong response in generating the necessary antibodies to the virus.
Speaking during a press briefing, he said “The vaccine’s safety have been reviewed and results show it is safe for use.”
Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the National Clinical Committee for Coronavirus, Dr. Nawal Al-Kaabi, the Principal Investigator in the third phase of clinical trials of the inactive vaccine meant to combat Covid-19, briefed in detail about the vaccine.
She said about 31,000 people from 125 countries participated in the clinical trials of the vaccine over a six-week period. Also, the vaccine has been tried successfully on 1000 volunteers suffering from chronic diseases.
“The preliminary results are encouraging however, studies will continue. Side effects are simple and come as expected just like any other vaccine. No dangerous side effects or symptoms have been reported,” Al Kaabi said.
The vaccine was tested on 1000 volunteers suffering from chronic diseases, and no complications have occurred to them.
