This Friday marks the end of suspension of Friday prayers in Dubai, when more than 760 mosques in Dubai is likely to host Friday prayers, the officials announced.

As per the directives by the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management, Friday prayers will resume from 4th December in the UAE.

“The suspension of Friday prayers and sermons has been lifted for 766 mosques in Dubai, and due to the current circumstances, temporary mosques have been added, including 60 mosques, to accommodate all worshippers, residents and visitors of Dubai,” Dr. Hamad Al Shaikh Ahmad Al Shaibani, Director General, The Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai (IACAD) said.

Together with Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management, IACAD has worked with volunteers in every Mosque in order to regulate the entry and exit of worshippers. For instance, if the internal areas of the Mosques are full, worshippers will be directed to use external areas.

Rules to be followed:

  • The number of worshippers allowed entry will be reduced to 30 percent capacity.
  • Prayers will be allowed only in the outer courtyards and will be broadcast over loudspeakers.
  • The duration of Friday sermon should not exceed 10 minutes.
  • All those who attend should wear a face mask and bring their own prayer mat. This should not be left behind in the mosque or should not be shared with anybody else.
  • There will be no distribution of food and water.

IACAD emphasized the need to adhere to the instructions for Friday prayers, including preventing distribution of food and water.
