New guidelines issued for travellers to India from UAE

As per the latest guidelines by the Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, issued on 5th November, travellers to India who are seeking exemption from institutional quarantine, but do not have a negative PCR Covid-19 test report in hand, can now test upon their arrival at the airport.

But, not all airports in India have this testing facility. Therefore, passengers who do not have a negative RT-PCR test report, and are using the airports that do not have the option to get screen at the airport, will have to undergo seven days of institutional quarantine, followed by seven days of home quarantine.

This latest guideline by the Ministry issued on 5th November surpasses the rules mentioned on 2nd August.

To apply for exemption from institutional quarantine in India, passengers will have to submit a negative PCR test result online at www.newdelhiairport.in at least 72 hours prior to boarding. The reasons may even be compelling such as death in the family, pregnancy, serious illness and parents with children below ten years of age.

Upload the test report on the portal for consideration. Every passenger should also submit a declaration regarding the authenticity of the report. If fount otherwise, they will be liable for criminal prosecution, the Ministry said.

The guidelines also said that the passengers should submit an undertaking on the portal or to the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Govt. of India, through respective airlines, before they are allowed to travel, stating that they would adhere to the decision of the concerned government authority to undergo institutional or home quarantine or self-monitoring of their health for 14 days as warranted.

The self-declaration form can be uploaded online at www.newdelhiairport.in 72 hours prior to scheduled travel or it can be submitted at the respective health counters upon arrival.
