The UAE has warned that people who fail to abide by the home quarantine instructions will be fined up to Dh.50,000 according to a new resolution.
The resolution issued by the UAE Attorney General after a cabinet decision, includes the list of sanctions for the precautionary measures taken to contain the spread of COVID-19.
The new resolution emphasizes that people who leave their homes for unnecessary reasons (except for buying necessities or essential work) will be slapped a fine of Dh.2000.
People not wearing medical masks in enclosed spaces and failing to maintain a safe distance will be charged a fine of Dh.1000.
Motorists who exceed the maximum passenger limit in their cars (not more than three) will be fined Dh.1000.
This resolution forms part of preventive and precautionary measures taken by the UAE to stop the spread of COVID-19, and ensure the safety of its residents and visitors.
The violators of these precautions will face a fine ranging from Dh.500 to Dh.50,000 depending on the severity of violation.
Moreover, the fines would be doubled for repeat violations. Thereafter, the violators would be referred to the Emergency and Crisis Prosecution Department at Federal Public Prosecution, if the violation is repeated for third time.
The law has been effective since 26th March 2020.
Here’s the list of violations and fines:
- For refusing compulsory hospitalization, or refusing to ingest prescribed medications despite being notified – Dh.50,000
- For not following home quarantine instructions – Dh.50,000
- Educational facilities, cinemas, gyms, parks, cafes, outdoor markets, malls, cafes, shopping centres, clubs, restaurants for violating closure instructions- Dh.50,000 and administrative closure for entities.
- For opening public parks, beaches, swimming pools, sports training centres, hotel pools without taking precautionary measures set by competent authorities, failing to temporarily suspend cruise tours – Dh.50,000 and administrative closure for entities, including Dh.500 fine for visitors.
- For anybody inviting or organizing gatherings, meetings, private and public celebrations – Dh.10,000 and a fine of Dh.5000 for participants.
- Violation of precautionary measures issued by the Health Ministry by passengers coming to UAE from countries affected by communicable diseases – Dh.2000
- Failing to take health measures regarding regulation of roads, markets, other public places exempted for temporary closure – Dh.3000
- Refusing to dispose any clothes, structure, luggage or others proved to be contaminated or might be contaminated by any pathogen if they can’t be disinfected by established methods – Dh.3000
- Failing to take precautions by the crew of ships – Dh.10,000
- Leaving home for unnecessary reasons – Dh.2000
- Violating provisions of Communicable Diseases Law when burying or transporting dead body infected with communicable disease – Dh.3000
- Fine for motorists exceeding limit of passengers in car (not more than three) – Dh.1000
- Fine for not wearing medical masks indoors or failing to maintain safe distance – Dh.1000
- Fine for not following sterilization procedures in public transport – Dh.5000
- Fine for unnecessary visit to health facilities – Dh.1000
- Fine for refusing to conduct a medical test upon requesting – Dh.5000
