Dubai shoppers may be refused entry if violating safety protocols

25 September 2020

Customers and shoppers in Dubai can be barred entry to any store or establishment if they fail to follow the safety protocols, authorities said.

According to the Dubai Economy, businesses have the right to refuse entry and deny services to customers who do not commit to the Covid-19 precautionary measures.

Traders will however, have to keep their customers informed about the measures and procedures, and they should be alerted to the precautions from the moment they enter the business premises.

The Commercial Compliance and Consumer Protection (CCCP) Sector of the Dubai Economy constantly monitors commercial establishments to ensure their commitment to the precautionary measures.

In its latest round of inspections, the CCCP has fined two retail outlets at shopping centres – an Exchange House in Al Muraqqabar and a pharmacy in Al Rigga, wherein the employees were caught working without face masks. The two establishments were warned for their failure to place physical distancing stickers as required.

On the whole, through inspections, 539 shops and commercial establishments were found violating precautionary protocols.

The Dubai Economy has requested one and all to report any violation through the Dubai Consumer app by either calling 600545555 or by visiting the website
