The Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) which begins today, the 17th December, is more than just a shopping extravaganza. It includes a range of family entertainment activities, raffle draws, retail promotions and live concerts. Residents across Dubai have expressed excitement about all the deals that they have been treated to this DSF.
Some of the residents said that they have been eagerly waiting for this festival to begin, as it is an opportunity for them to safely indulge in some ‘retail therapy’, especially so, as the Covid-19 pandemic had compelled them to turn online for shopping.
Residents welcome DSF
“It has been a long year where everyone has been stuck indoors due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Almost everyone has had to shop online for their purchases, and this is not the same as the experience of going out to a physical store and shopping. We are looking forward to all the DSF sales, as well as the holiday season décor that brightens up the shopping malls at this timeof the year,” said a Dubai resident.
Another excited Dubai resident who spoke to the media said that DSF has always been one of the biggest retail discount festivals which brings in unbeatable discounts.
“This is a great opportunity for me to get my winter wardrobe ready. It is also a good way to prepare gifts for my family members and their upcoming birthdays in January. My main aim will be to shop for clothes and electronic gadgets,” she added.
The DSF which will be on until 30th January 2021, will also help Dubai residents ring in the new year with shows, promotions and concerts.

According to the organizers, strict safety measures re in place at participating malls and shopping destinations.

The 26th showcase of the world’s biggest and longest running retail festival will be the perfect celebration of everything Dubai is famous for – unparalleled family fun, shopping and Covid safety approach. This is our most highly anticipated edition that will bring 2020 to a close and welcome in the start of 2021 in a positive and fun-packed fashion.”
Line-up of events, activities, promotions at DSF
The DSF Sale Season promotion will be held from 26th December to 30th January at 3500 outlets offering savings of 25 percent to 75 percent.
Infinity Mega Raffle
DSF will host the Infiniti Mega Raffle. The raffle tickets priced at Dh.200 can be purchased at select ENOC and EPCO petrol stations, Zoom stores, Dubai Metro stations.
Shoppers who spend Dh.200 at The Gold Souk, the Global Village and participating shopping malls will enter into a raffle to offer an Infiniti QX60 car, apart from Dh.200,000 per day.
Total of 45 vehicles will be given away during the DSF, with daily draws happening at Global Village. Each person has the opportunity to win Dh.500,000 on the final day of DSF, with the DSF’s Nissan Grand Raffle giving away 45 Nissan vehicles this DSF.
The Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group (DGJG) will run a grand raffle from 17th December until 30th January, involving prices of upto 25kgs of gold. Residents and visitors who purchase jewellery at any of the participating outlets across Dubai can enter the raffle.
Shoppers who spend Dh.500 on gold jewellery will be given one raffle coupon and customers who purchase diamonds, watchers or pearls worth Dh.500 will receive two.
On a daily basis during the DSF, four winners can share 1kg of gold equally, while 3kg of gold will be shared by 12 winners as part of mega prize draw held on the final day of DSF.
Events, lighting, fireworks, concerts
DSF markets will return with a collection of pop-up events taking place at Last Exit Al Khawaneej and Al Seef, apart from Nakheel Mall, Burj Park, Dubai Festival City Mall, Mall of the Emirates, and community markets across the city. The markets will also host a display of fireworks every week.
The streets, malls and major landmarks across Dubai will be lit up with dynamic decorative and branded lighting this DSF. Visitors will get to see illuminated palm trees, and decorative lights along Metro bridges, lamp posts etc., which will leave a feeling of the entire city having come to life with lights.
The DSF will begin a two-day celebration at Market Outside The Box (MOTB) at Burj Park in Downtown Dubai on 17th and 18th December from 8pm to 12am daily. The ticket prices begin at Dh.50.
