After the period of lull caused by the Covid-19 pandemic in the past few months in Dubai and rest of the world, the 23rd edition of Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) has brought about the much-needed joy and celebrations for residents and visitors in Dubai.
The annual family festival, which opened yesterday in Dubai, saw shoppers, particularly families at hotspots across Dubai, enjoying fun and safe events, shopping and participating in mind-boggling promotions.
The DSS came in just two days after Dubai reopened doors to tourists from across the world amidst strict safety measures in place in order to continue its efforts to fight Covid-19.
The Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE) has lined-up a range of exciting events this year including the fireworks and mega-raffle draws, pop-up shops and yoga sessions ‘At the Top’ in Burj Khalifa.
The fun began as soon as the malls opened doors to guests on Thursday, with a 12-hour sale running from 10am to 10pm at Majid Al Futtaim (MAF) malls across Dubai.
Visitors grabbed savings from 25 percent to 90 percent on a range of products. Those who spent Dh.300, entered the 12-hour Share Millionaire raffle with a grand lucky draw for 1 million Share Points.
Evening at Downtown Dubai saw Burj Khalifa all lit up in the background while the families and children were seen enjoying the fireworks and Dubai Fountain. While the visitors felt welcomed, the residents were excided to watch the colourful DSS opening ceremony.
The Dubai malls are operating at 100 percent capacity now, and the 12-hour sale seems to have removed the fear factor involved in shopping during a global pandemic. The sales seem to have surely raked in the crowd.
