The Expo 2020 Dubai is a culmination of technology, entrepreneurship and design which aims to showcase the future of flight and aviation in the upcoming decades. In the light of this world-class event, the airline Emirates has revealed its design for its ultra-modern visitor pavilion. Emirates, the official airline of the Expo 2020 Dubai, has been always been a pioneer in the field of aviation service. Through its Expo 2020 pavilion, Emirates will allow visitors to experience the futuristic designs and technologies the company visualizes for the years to come.
A mélange of sustainable design, art and interactive experiences
The Emirates pavilion in the Expo 2020 Dubai is guided by the event's three core themes - Mobility, opportunity and sustainability. The design of this pavilion has been structured to evoke feelings of hope and positivity in an environment of sustainability and innovation. The entire pavilion spans 3,300 square meters over 3 floors. The building itself reflects the lines of an airline body about to take flight, with a set of 26 slanted architectural fins styled with an 800-meter crown of LED lights. The multi-sensory effects of these LEDs create a brilliant sense of movement for the lightshows that will occur every night of the expo.
Emirates' aviation pavilion imbibes the concepts of sustainable fabrication and building techniques. It uses integrated solar arrays and responsive solar shading to create a sustainable landscape within and outside the building. The use of natural sunlight to enter the inner areas of the pavilion reduces energy consumption and the emphasis of wide open green areas throughout the building and dedicated sky gardens for visitors.
Creating exhibits of the future
The building also hosts an auditorium where prominent speakers will address sessions on the future of commercial aviation. Topics discussed will cover upcoming airport technologies like biometric and other end-to-end passenger processing systems and advances made in engine propulsion and thrust along with demonstrations. Other futuristic exhibits for visitors include a future lab which will showcase metallic and composite material currently in development for a better flying experience and a fuselage of tomorrow which will show how cabins are transformed in the next few years. In all these, emphasis will be laid on experiential content and visitor interaction.
The newly designed Emirates structure will be close to the UAE pavilion and within walkable distance of the Al Wasl pavilion, which is the heart and soul of the Expo 2020 Dubai.
