Night, Mother at The Junction

Theater group Orb Theatricals brings to Dubai its third full-length play, ‘Night, Mother’, to The Junction. ‘Night, Mother’ is a rendition of Marsha Norman’s 1983 Pulitzer Prize-winning drama, which was nominated for a Tony Award in the same year. It shares the tale of Jessie Cates, a divorced single mother who lives with her aged mother, Thelma.

It's Saturday night and Thelma is all ready for her weekly manicure and crochet. Jessie, however seems to be interested in putting all things into proper place and stocking the house with everything Thelma needs. Jessie opens up to her mother about her internal struggles. She also looks for her father's gun, which according to Thelma is ridiculous because really, who is going to come down to their old country home to steal?

Only there was going to be no stealing - just an ending - an ending Thelma never envisaged; an ending she must avoid at any cost!

Directed by Sabiha Majgaonkar, this play embarks on a poignant journey of a mother trying to save her daughter from the claws of depression.
