The ships of the desert are gearing up for this year’s racing competition, and that gives racing enthusiasts (or camel fans) a chance to cheer them on.
An integral part of the UAE's heritage, camel racing dates back centuries and is a must-see for residents and tourists in Dubai. This month marks the perfect time of the year for you to catch a race, as the new camel racing season begins at Al Marmoom Smart Camel Racing Track from 29-30 October.
Skilled trainers from around the globe will be competing for valuable prizes and titles in the latest championship, bringing in camel breeds trained for high-endurance and action-packed racing. Each race is between 4-6km long and you can experience plenty of enthusiasm from the stands as the crowd cheers on their favourite camel.
Expect camels to be racing around one of the biggest camel tracks in the UAE at speeds of around 65 kilometres an hour.
The best part? It’s completely free to attend, but the racetrack recommends to call a day in advance to confirm your spot.
