Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC) is once again hosting an exciting line-up of traditional and new watersports, from magnificent wooden dhow racing to modern sailing and waterbike racing. Taking place on Friday September 14, Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC) will be kicking off its 2018-19 season of traditional and new water sport racing with a dhow sailing race.
During the eight-month season, each of the 22ft (6.7m), 43ft (13.1m) and 60ft (18.2m) dhow sailing championships will comprise three rounds, while there will be four rounds of the 30ft rowing championships, with the season finale in April 2019. Races will take place throughout the year, with the next round being the 43ft Dubai traditional dhow sailing race taking place on Saturday October 6.

Founded in 1988, DIMC proudly organises the waterborne racing series to encourage sporting excellence and to take advantage of Dubai's lengthy coastline. The organisation runs around 150 events a year. Many of the dhows are owned by Sheikhs, and the races can attract around 100 or more of the traditional wooden-hulled craft.

The event is free to watch, and is the perfect way to see just how fast these boats can go as they fill the Arabian gulf with their white sails. Previous years has seen around 100 boats enter the championship, making it a spectacle to watch.
