Now that the winter season is absolutely in full flow, one of the coolest outdoors events in the world is the town. Most famously played on the beaches of Brazil, beach football is heading to the shores of the UAE.

The tournament began back in 2011 in UAE, which is scheduled to last there until at least 2020. This tournament is the second-largest beach soccer Competition after the World Cup, with six continental champions around the world, the host of the tournament and the winner of the World Cup.

Held under the patronage of Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Dubai Sports Council (DSC), the organizers of the annual Huawei Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup has managed to put together a field that is possibly even better than a World Cup. Led by top-ranked Brazil, the eight-team ensemble consists of second-ranked Portugal, No. 3 Iran and No. 4 Russia. Paraguay is No. 8, while the UAE is 10th followed by 12th-ranked Mexico and No. 20 Egypt. The Russian team is the most successful with three titles, Brazil won it on two occasions, and Iran won it once. As part of the Arab participation, the UAE team participated in all six previous editions; The UAE’s best performance in this annual event has been two successive third-place finishes in 2012 and 2013.

Much is expected from the hosts this time following their fine display at the 2017 Fifa Beach Soccer World Cup in Panama, where they missed out on a place in the knockout stages following their extra-time 2-1 loss to Portugal

The annual tournament was held at the Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC) for the past three years. But with parking becoming an increasing worry for organizers at the venue, a brand-new venue for the Seventh Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup took shape at a frenetic pace as the annual tournament shifts to its new home at the Marasi Boulevard in the Business Bay area. The stadium is a state-of-the art facility and occupies a space in the heart of the city, close to one of Asia’s most iconic buildings – the Burj Khalifa – and the Dubai Mall, the new venue will add extra value to the event as well as it will also offer the fans better transport options.

Entrance to the Intercontinental Beach Soccer Cup at Marasi Business Bay is totally free with hospitality packages available. There will be four thrilling matches every day, as well as plenty of fan zones dotted around the stadium. Follow all the matches live at http://www.beachsoccer.com/schedule
