Twenty corporate teams will battle it out in the 2016 Zurich Corporate Touch 6’s tournament at the Jebel Ali Centre for Excellence. The event will focus mainly on bringing together the community while also promoting a healthy lifestyle and now in its fifth year, spectators are promised a day of entertainment and super fast touch rugby.
UAE has a great climate for outdoor activities with many events all round the year and this event promises to be a full day packed with sensational touch rugby, loads of family fun and sporty entertainment for all ages. Unlike most corporate events, this event has turned into something for the whole community to support, watch rugby and enjoy all the other attractions. Visitors to the UAE Corporate Touch 6’s can enter for free so the organizers are trying to spread the enthusiasm for sport to as much of the community as possible.
Last year, 16 teams participated and approximately 2,000 members of the public came on the day. The 2016 tournament is expected to be bigger than last year’s event. And thanks to the change in format (from full contact rugby to touch rugby) viewers will be able to watch both men and women from some of the Emirate’s most prominent firms go confronting each other on the field. Kicking off at 10am and running all the way through to the exciting grand final at 6.30pm. One of the key attractions in this event will be an all-star touch rugby demonstration game from Dubai’s top sports and media personalities, courtesy of UAE Touch and Duplays.
There is an Under 7’s tag tournament with six local clubs (Arabian Knights, Hurricanes, Harlequins, Exiles, Heartbeat Sports and Al Ain) participating. There will also be a family entertainment zone including kids’ area. Kids can test their juggling skills in a circus workshop, while kids’ rugby games and Tae Kwon Do demonstrations will keep the little ones entertained.
