A celebration of literature is taking place in Literaturhaus at Nadi from July 1 to Sep 30. Literaturhaus is set to revive the famed 19th-century salon, where contemporary questions were debated alongside an assortment of literary and cultural initiatives, inspiring and challenging audiences with new thoughts.

Literaturhaus at Nadi kicked off at Alserkal Avenue on July 1 with a launch event featuring a performance by slam poet Afra Atiq. Literaturhaus at Nadi will run from July 1 to Sept. 30 in Nadi Al Quoz, a zen-like urban oasis in the heart of Alserkal Avenue.

The programme sets out to revive and reinvent the 19th-century salon, where issues of the day are discussed alongside an array of literary, cultural and artistic initiatives, inspiring listeners with new perceptions. International and regional authors, poets, curators, critics, publishers, musicians and translators will gather in Literaturhaus at 4 pm every Saturday to share their ideas through discussions, readings and performances. The programme will cover all aspects of contemporary culture and become a forum to ignite thoughtful exchange.

Contributors to the Literaturhaus at Nadi programme include: Fadi Zaghmout, Hussain Ali Lootah, Mai Khaled, , Hani Yakan, Andrew Hansen, Aidan Walker, Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, Afra Atiq, Jamil Adas, Parea, Farah Chammah, Ibrahim Ali Khadim, Walter Paice, Anna Seaman, Asma Al Jailani, Zeina Hashem Beck, Tom Fletcher, Philip Kennedy, Dr Frauke Heard-Bey,David Heard, Mariam Al Saedi, Nathalie Fend De Sousa Lobo and Dr Alyazia Khalifa.

This is a great way to spend a weekend afternoon, and an exciting way to bolster the fire for reading and literature if it’s been a while since you last picked up a book. The events are free of charge and open to the public however spaces are limited so booking at [email protected] is essential. Stick around after the performance to meet some of the other Literaturhaus authors, poets, critics, musicians and publishers over coffee.
