Widows and divorced women will benefit under relaxed residency laws. Instead of a grace period of 30 days, they will be able to continue in the country for a whole year.
This came as Dr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE's Minister of State for Foreign Trade, spoke to reporters on the sidelines of the UAE Projects of 50 event, which was held to announce the first set of plans under the initiative.
Earlier, the Minister of State announced a green residency system and freelancers visa.
The UAE government said on its Twitter account, “UAE announces Green Visa a new residency system that separates the residence permit from the work permit, and targets the higher skill levels, investors, entrepreneurs, early students and graduates, and includes a set of new privileges different from the regular residence.”
A tweet also read, “UAE announces Freelancers Visa, the first residency system of its kind at the federal level, intended for independent self-employed workers.”
