Lahore-based flutist Haider Rahman will perform at The Fridge, Alserkal Avenue for local audiences after a riveting performance at the Lahore Literature Festival in New York earlier this summer.
Rahman is a classical flute player and the student of Pandit Harri Prasad Churrasiya. Haider is a founding member of the band Laal. Haider has performed as a bansuri (flute) player in the band's debut album Umeed e Sahar.
His main performance comes when he is given a "space" for a Flute solo and he improvises according to his mood. He also says that he plays the sound that he hears inside him, and does not play anything that he has played before. Haider is considered to be a great asset not only to the band but also to the Pakistani music industry.
Haider’s performance will be accompanied by a poetry reading from Joy of Urdu. This event is part of Alserkal Avenue’s on-going summer program curated by Dubai-based arts writer Kevin Jones.
