The third performance of Fridge Concert Series is by Kdun Allbaz on Monday 15 October 2018.
The Fridge Concert Series season 29 features four weekly performances by top local and regional musicians. The series kicked off on April 8 with Zero Funks. On April 15, American singer-songwriter Chinua Hawk explores the intricacies of love through acoustic-driven soul.
On April 22, Kdun Albaz, who created a new genre of music on the Hangdrum instrument, will launch his album City Vibes, a collaboration with musicians from 13 countries who reside in Dubai. This ambitious global project symbolises Dubai’s cosmopolitanism and reflects Albaz’s globalised musicianship.
The self-taught drummer and percussionist has dedicated himself to musical exploration. In 2011, the artist discovered the HANG, a Swiss-made drum-like instrument that generates haunting acoustics. With this instrument in hand, Albaz invented a new genre of music that fused modern styles with culturally-inspired melodies.
