It is something of a coup for the Dubai Concert Committee to have the noted Russian pianist Konstantin Scherbakov playing a full evening piano recital for the DCC New Year’s Concert on 26 December 2018.
Hailed as the modern Rachmaninov by critics at the Lucerne Festival, Russian pianist Konstantin Scherbakov is nothing short of a classical master. A child prodigy, Scherbakov made his debut at the age of eleven as a soloist in Beethoven’s First Piano Concerto. Since then, he’s cultivated global recognition as an award-winning piano virtuoso with breathtaking performances of works by Rachmaninov, Beethoven, Bach and more at concerts across the globe.
A multiple prize winner, he has recorded or played with most of the world’s leading orchestras; since 1998, he has been a professor at the Zurich University of the Arts; he is a frequent jury member for major international competitions; and he regularly holds master classes all over the world. His many CDs (especially for Naxos) include highly rated recordings of Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concertos, Shostakovich’s Twenty-Four Preludes and Fugues, and the nine Beethoven symphonies as transcribed for the piano by Liszt (notably the incredibly difficult transcription of Beethoven’s Ninth).
Witness his magnificent talent and skill at the Royal Ballroom at One&Only Royal Mirage, a state-of-the-art venue that creates a bespoke listening environment for classical music, artists and fans. Konstantin Scherbakov will recite a selection of works by Beethoven, Liszt and Chopin throughout the evening as part of Dubai Concert Committee’s New Year’s Concert.
