One of India’s most celebrated maestros and internationally acclaimed flautist, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, will make a rare appearance in Dubai for a concert of Indian classical music at the Dubai Community and Arts Centre’s Centrepoint Theatre on August 25.

A rare live performance at the Dubai Community and Arts Centre’s Centrepoint Theatre on August 25 by the undisputed master of the bansuri, Indian musical maestro, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia. He will be accompanied by Satyajit Talwalkar on the tabla and Giridhar Udupa on the ghatam. Legendary Chaurasia has performed in the UAE a number of times including once at a concert with Ian Anderson of British rock band Jethro Tull.
Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia is a very popular and eminent artiste par excellence who is known for his outstanding contribution in popularizing Indian Classical Music all over the world. His consummate artistry has distinguished him as the greatest living master of the North Indian Bamboo Flute, acclaimed both at home and abroad. As a musician Pandit Chaurasia is a rare combination of an innovator and a traditionalist. He has radically expanded the expressive possibilities of classical North Indian flute- playing through his masterful blowing technique and his unique adaptation of alaap and jod to the flute.
Pandit Chaurasia’s horizons also extend beyond North Indian Classical music to Indian folk and popular music and to western music as well.
Presented by Transworld group, this is an evening of classical Indian music on the Indian bamboo flute accompanied by master percussionists Satyajit Talwalkar on Tabla and Giridhar Udupa on the ghatam. Together, these masters of rhythm will provide a rare live performance for the audience to embark on a spiritual journey.
