Jashn-e-Rekhta is a three-day cultural extravaganza that promotes and preserves the Urdu language in all its mediums, from literature and culture to poetry and song.
Hosted by Rekhta, a non-profit organization dedicated to Urdu language, this lively celebration is arriving in Dubai for the first time. Jashn-e-Rekhta will be a culture carnival for all Urdu-speakers and lovers to indulge in a deeply poetic and versatile language.
Enjoy live performances of ghazals and qawwalis by internationally renowned talents, together with dastangoi (an Urdu storytelling art form from the 13th century), interactive panel discussions, poetry recitations and conversations with celebrities. Fantastic artists and performances await. Power couple Shabana Azmi & Javed Akhtar have prepared a theatrical tribute to legendary poet Kaifi Azmi and his wife Shaukat Kaifi, celebrated qawwal’s Fareed Ayaz and Abu Muhammad will grace the stage with heartfelt odes, and entertainment sensations like Pakistani actress Mahira Khan and director Sarmad Sultan Khoosat will share insights on films.
