No one is above the law in Dubai

A strategic plan has been adopted to further streamline enforcement of civil judgements of Dubai Courts.

Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Dubai Judicial Council, said that this will further enhance confidence in the judicial system in Dubai, which is vital to “ensuring the emirate’s global competitiveness”.

Taking to Twitter, he referred to one of the eight defining principles of governance in the Emirate as listed by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai: “No one is above the law.”

Taresh Eid Al Mansouri, Director-General of the Dubai Courts, said the new initiatives will help create an advanced judicial system that “exceeds global benchmarks for speed, efficiency and service excellence”.

New projects and initiatives announced as part of the strategic plan include:

Privatisation of execution procedures: Aligned with the procedures of Civil Law No. (42) of 2022, Dubai Courts will issue a decision to license private companies to provide judgment execution services.
Electronic writ of execution seal: The initiative seeks to facilitate the enforcement of a court judgement.
Smart requests: This aims to streamline writ of execution procedures so that the execution judge, officials and the special commissioner authorised by the court are notified about their enforcement responsibilities and tasks online.
Disclosure platform: This enables all authorities and officials involved in the execution of a ruling to be notified about the funds and assets of judgement debtors.
Sale notification system: This creates a system for notifying officials in charge of the execution of a judgement about items confiscated as part of a ruling so that they can be sold within a specified time frame.
Integration with Ministry of Interior: It seeks to ensure that rulings are enforced with the help of police and security departments.
