Would you like to make your food order normal, Organic or post-apocalyptic? Last exit Al Khawaneej is an experience for those at home in the green outdoors, with spacious lawns vintage pick-ups; farm animals, bird houses, and dishes created by 10 popular concepts.
Last Exit, the unique food truck concept by Meraas, has opened the third location at Al Khawaneej, next to Mirdiff between Mohammed Bin Zayed Road and Emirates Road, as part of an ambitious expansion plan that will see a total of 10 new Last Exit destinations created across the emirate of Dubai by 2018. While the auto-themed Last Exit E11 differs in style from Last Exit D89 on Sheikh Zayed Road, and the equestrian-themed Last Exit D63 in Al Qudra, the new food truck park in Al Khawaneej offers the same gourmet street food that has become a firm favourite among residents and visitors, around the clock.
How it works is simple; after taking the slip road, guests are presented with the set on individual tracks and each given their own intercom ordering service. From there, you can park up and then choose to either eat in the car or head inside to the retro-style decorated outdoor canteen block. A spin-off from the American concept where food is cooked and sold from the back of trucks, the Last Exit features food and beverage outlets from Latin America, the Middle East, the US and Italy in trailers designed in a similar way to those in America in the 1950s.
Unlike previous openings, Meraas has designed Last Exit D89 with a slightly greener vibe, perhaps mirroring the nearby Mushrif Park. Meraas has also made this space available for community events, while also revealing plans to develop the nearby community with a homestead, bakery and indoor restaurants. At Last Exit, you’ll be able to treat yourself to some wholesome dishes created by the likes of homegrown Indian street food concept, Jaldi Jaldi, fried chicken house Hot Chix, and deliciously authentic Latin American cuisine at Poco Loco. If you’ve complete your half-hour of exercise for the day, simply show your results to one of the food trucks and get a discount on your food – they are offering up to 20% off.
