The cooler months will be welcomed with a party atmosphere down at Alserkal Avenue this September. Taking place on Monday September 30, the art season kicks off at Alserkal Avenue with must-see exhibitions, dance performances and newly-opened concept stores.
There’ll be extended opening times for all the galleries plus dance performances, fitness activations and film screenings, which are all free of charge. The venue is kid-friendly and all ages are welcome, so head down to share an evening with fellow creative minds.
So, what’s happening?
The highlight of the evening will be WRECK – List of Extinct Species an evocative interdisciplinary performance that combines movement, sound, and visual art. WRECK features a specially- commissioned big soft sculpture that moves across the stage like a hunter. The sculpture serves as a metaphor for legendary sea monsters, capitalism, a Leviathan and the human condition. This will be held from September 30-October 1.
The creative hub for children- Wisdom Warehouse will offer hands-on activities and innovative learning methods including Mathletes, Young Authors Club and a book club. High-end regional footwear brand Tamashee has transformed its warehouse takeover space into a multi-purpose concept where visitors can shop, indulge in Saudi speciality coffee, or take part in art workshops.
Moreover, Chalk, a unisex beauty salon will offer a range of grooming services, Shimis Yoga will be offering special classes, and those interested in fair trade and upcycled items can visit Kave, a café concept store opened by the sisters behind Charicyles.
