Thousands of visitors thronged to Dubai’s Global Village on the last day to grab some last-minute bargains on Saturday. There were many others who went around the wonderful family destination for a nostalgic spin one last time before the curtains came down on Season 26 of the theme park.
Many were seen trying to catch up on pavilions they had missed during previous visits, there were thousands of others enjoying the fantastic variety of food from different corners of the globe - including street food - and exploring the fair’s various delights.
Though the theme park was originally set to close for the season on April 10, it was extended by almost a month, and it hosted special Ramadan shopping and activities, as it celebrated Eid Al Ftir for the first time in its history, while offering guests extended opportunities to visit different country pavilions.
The 26th edition of Global Village saw hundreds of thousands of visitors pass through its gates during its record-breaking 194 days of operation. Those who missed out on visiting earlier made it a point to go during the last few days Saturday before the curtains came down on the fair.
Tourist Fahim Armar who visited the park for the first time, was pleasantly surprised with the attractions and activities at the theme park. “I had heard a lot about Global Village, but it surpassed all of my expectations,” he said.
To ensure he didn’t miss out on anything in his first and last visit this season, Armar tried to cover almost all pavilions. “The pavilions are just stunning and the way they have showcased the tradition, culture and local products is simply amazing. And not to forget the fantastic food and thrilling rides,” he added.
