Hamdan International Photography Award (HIPA) is a global photography award showcasing awe-inspiring images by professional and amateur photographers around the world. The award was first introduced in 2011 by crown prince of Dubai Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid bin Mohammed al Maktoum.
Initiation of this award demonstrates the dedication of Dubai to promote and acknowledge art, culture and passion.The Award welcomes all talented photographers from every corner of the world, and also give respects to the talent. Therefore, they, in turn, get a stage and catch the international art and culture attention.
The award ceremony of ninth edition will be held on 10 March, under the theme 'Water'. The ceremony takes place at Dubai Opera, presenting works that explore the beauty and mystery of water. Each of the featured artists demonstrates a keen eye for visual meaning by exploring diverse techniques and political matter to breathtaking landscapes and subjects.
The images are selected by a panel of judges, local and international, who are esteemed figures in the universe of photography. Additional categories this year include Portfolio, General and Mobile Photography.
