JoScene presents Vader Live in Dubai

Vader, one of the early architects of Polish metal music, is performing live at ElBarrio in Hyatt Place on Friday 7 June 2019.

Formed in 1983, The group was founded by then-bassist Piotr "Peter" Wiwczarek and guitarist Zbigniew "Vika" Wróblewski. They went through several lineup changes over the years, with Wiwczarek as the only constant member. Since 2011, the band has comprised Wiwczarek on guitars and vocals, guitarist Marek "Spider" Pająk, bassist Tomasz "Hal" Halicki, and British drummer James Stewart.

They started as a heavy metal group and eventually went to thrash, speed, and then in the late 1980s became a death metal band. It was the release of Vader’s third demo album, Morbid Reich in 1990 that introduced the band to commercial frequencies and international renown. Morbid Reich became one of the most successful metal demos ever, selling nearly 10,000 copies.

Vader’s success and influence in the genre have since grown tenfold. The band has released ten studio albums to date and inspired American rock bands like the Eagles of Death Metal and Queens of Stone Age. According to Billboard magazine, by 2002 Vader sold approximately 500,000 releases around the world.
