​'Custody' Screening at Cinema Akil

An all-star cast led by Viola Davis and featuring Hayden Panettiere, Tony Shalhoub and Ellen Burstyn headline the tense 2016 drama ‘CUSTODY’ which will be screened at A4 Space on July 28th. 'CUSTODY' revolves around three women and how their lives are unexpectedly changed when they cross paths at a New York Family Court.

This critically acclaimed drama is a presentation in Cinema Akil’s FIERCE! programme of American films in collaboration with the US Embassy and the United States Consulate General in Dubai. It’s dedicated to “the women who shook the ground they stood on … to the girls who threw the ball beyond all limits … to the strong, bold, and courageous risk takers, homemakers, glass ceiling breakers … to the women who take the world on and never stop”. The programme has films showing twice a month at A4 Space in Alserkal Avenue.

From director James Lapine, and part of Cinema Akil's July line-up of screenings, the trio of main characters include Oscar-winning actress Viola Davis (for Best Supporting Actress in Fences) stars as an embattled family court judge facing marital troubles of her own, Hayden Panettiere – best known for starring in US television shows Heroes and Nashville –plays a recent law-school graduate flung into a custody case and Catalina Sandino Moreno plays a single mother at the center of the case who risks losing her two children over an ill-timed argument.
