Skechers presents the 18th annual Sharmila Dance Extravaganza featuring an entertaining array of Hip-Hop, Contemporary, Classical Ballet, Street-Jazz, Afro-Jazz, Dancehall, Bboying and Latin at Centrepoint Theatre, DUCTAC, Mall of The Emirates, April 20-21, show times 2:30pm and 7:30pm.
Months of hard work and preparation will come to a climax in this April (April 20 & 21), when the cast will perform five shows to sell-out crowds inside the Mall of the Emirates' 500+ seater auditorium.The Sharmila Dance Extravaganza is a professional showcase of the commitment, passion and talent of the Sharmila Dance School’s students and company of professional dancers. Dedicated to sharing the vitality and delight of dance as a form of art and sport, Sharmila Dance offers a range of classes and workshops throughout the year for students of all ages and levels. Sharmila Kamte, the founder of the Dance school is a dynamic, energetic personality who uses her knowledge and flair to draw out and cultivate the talents of all her students, utilizing her decades of experience as a model, dancer, choreographer, director and dance instructor. Sharmila has extensive experience performing in music videos, TV commercials, concerts, award shows, stage shows and product launches, in many countries around the world.
The show, supported by sneaker firm, Skechers, has grown from humble beginnings as a small street jazz dance show in the Jumeirah Beach Club in the year 2000, and is now the highlight of the Dubai dance calendar. To meet demands of its growing audience, the Extravaganza moved to Centrepoint Theatre, DUCTAC, Mall of The Emirates in 2007 where it reached new heights with consistently sold out shows and standing ovations over the years. Now in its 18th year, this much-loved annual show celebrates the art of dance with a whirlwind of different dance styles, costumes, colours and lights. The concert features over 150 performers, some of which are as young as seven years old.
It will be head-spinning weekends for dance in Dubai, where the local powerhouse of talent will make audience members want to jump out of their seats. Spectators will be in for a treat with new and unique choreographies set to a fun mix of the hottest hits, old school classics and eclectic tracks that will appeal to all tastes.
