Indian consulate in Dubai aids 30 workers stuck at the airport over pending fines. The workers could not board repatriation flight due to pending fines.
The construction company workers said they were from Rajasthan and they were scheduled to board a charter flight that was repatriating stranded Indians to Jaipur on July 17.
They were stranded in the airport for four days after they failed to board a repatriation flight last Friday. After hearing their plight, the Indian Consulate in Dubai came to their rescue and arranged for them to move to a labour accommodation by their company on Tuesday.
One of the workers, who appealed for help to the consulate said,“Some of us are on visit visas while some others’ residence visas have already expired. We didn’t know we would have to pay fines. Some have fines of about Dh10,000 to Dh11,000 while others have smaller amount of fines.”
