Over 150 patients, following treatment for the Covid-19 coronavirus, were discharged from a field medical facility in Dubai's Al Warsan neighborhood on Monday. In a video shared online, the men applaud and cheer medical staff as they are escorted out of Al Warsan neighbourhood.

Buildings in the area were converted into isolation facilities for coronavirus patients with mild or no symptoms and quarantine units for people who have come into contact with patients. At least two private health care providers run the facilities with help from local authorities.

At least two negative consecutive test results are typically required by medics before a patient can be released.

The patients, maintaining adequate distance away from each other, were seen thanking the DHA, doctor, nurses, and other medical professionals for working 24/7 over the past few weeks. They were seen cheering and clapping loudly in support of the brave heroes who helped them recover from the deadly viral infection that has infected over 2.4 million people across the world.

On Saturday, the Consulate General of India announced it has undertaken one such all-male medical facility, with a capacity of 500 beds. "This is a joint effort between the Dubai Health Authority, Indian community members, and Aster DM Healthcare," said Vipul, the Consul General of India to Dubai.

"The building (in Warsan) can take up to 500 patients and we are happy that several Indian doctors have come forward to volunteer their services," he added. Healthcare workers volunteered their services at the request of the Indian Consulate in Dubai and it supplements the UAE's and Dubai's efforts in battling the pandemic, said Vipul.
